The team's opinion: The Bassics Tone Ranger EQ is the type of pedal that we would like to see more often! Indeed, the EQ pedals are already not legion. But most are simply graphic EQs. Very practical for “cleaning up” the sound of your guitar and bass, but what about giving it character?
This is the case with this Tone Ranger, which is an analog 100% parametric EQ. Sound recording fans are already thrilled! Indeed, the latter will allow you to target 3 frequencies of your choice, generally 1 in the low, 1 in the mid and one in the high.
When you have identified the flattering frequencies, you can then boost them to give your sound a particular color. Because let's not forget a parametric EQ does not behave like a graph. The more you push a frequency, the more it will saturate (in a musical way though). Note that it is also possible to reduce a frequency with this type of EQ, in a more natural way than with a graphic.
The gain can go up to + 15! And it is possible, via a switch, to choose whether you want to saturate the frequency or not. The icing on the cake ? This pedal can be powered by 18V! In this configuration, it offers more air.
The Bassics Tone Ranger EQ is a rare boutique pedal on the used market. It also has the merit of being original. A great alternative to Source Audio Programmable EQ.
