The team's opinion: The Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay is a so-called “hybrid” delay pedal. Indeed, it embeds a mix of digital and analog technology for uncompromising rendering (the famous PT2399). This hybrid side will offer you greater flexibility than an analog 100% model, while retaining the authentic character of the echo.
In terms of rendering, the Deep Blue is rather clean compared to analog pedals with the famous bucket brigade chips. To put it simply, this Mad Professor is rather transparent. And it's a good thing for guitarists wishing to use it clean or in front of an overdriven amp.
This clean side will make it easier to break into the mix. By exaggerating the settings, it becomes possible to have a dirtier delay, perfectly suited to garage rock.
In terms of controls, delay regulars will not be out of place: A Level, a Repeat and a Delay! The Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay is able to offer a maximum time of 450ms, which is the standard for this type of effect.
As usual, Mad Professor offers us a well-thought-out, well-finished pedal that will surely find its place in your pedalboard. A great alternative to the more vintage Way Huge Small Aqua Puss.
